This ning was originally set up for Information Literacy week in Second Life ... it will continue on as a focus for information literacy in Second Life! Anyone can look at the ning pages, but you have to join up in order to add an event, comment etc. However, please only post stuff in some way relevant to information literacy & Second Life. I have had a few spammers join (posting about "buying your dissertation" - ironic considering the information literacy topic! - and had to boot them out)
Information Literacy Week in Second Life 2009 is over! It took place 9-15th November 2009, and on this home page is a little discussion, plus a flickr stream from the event. Please add links and photos of the event if you create or come across them .
This ning was created for sharing information about activities and events in
Information Literacy Week in Second Life. The event was about information literacy (basic concept defined on the left) and it happened in
Second Life, the virtual world. Anyone can look at the ning pages, but you have to join up in order to add an event, comment etc.
We are aiming to have another Information Literacy Week, but probably not until 2011 - watch this space! In the meantime, though, the ning can be used by its members to share, publicise, discuss things related to information literacy and Second Life (or other virtual worlds).
If you have arranged an event or activity that is relevant to information literacy or digital literacy and Second Life - please add it as an Event: Click on "Add an event" in the
Event box. Note that all events should be listed in
Second Life Time : this is the same as US Pacific Time. You can use a tool like the
Personal World Clock to match SL time and the time in your country. If you have problems in adding an event, please contact me at s.webber@sheffield.ac.uk
Information Literacy is for everyone, so this ning is for everyone; just keep it relevant to information literacy in SL. You can set up groups (if there is a special interest e.g. a language or subject interest) or discussion threads, add events, photos etc.
